Stoppbåndbåndbredde refererer til bredden på stoppbåndområdet, det vil si frekvensspennet mellom de høye og lave grensefrekvensene. Båndstoppfiltre har forskjellige dempningsrater, som brukes til å representere graden av dempning av signalet i stoppbåndområdet i forhold til signalet i passbåndområdet. Noen båndstoppfiltre kan ha rippler i passbåndområdet, det vil si endringer i signalforsterkningen over et bestemt frekvensområde. Rippler kan kontrolleres gjennom filterdesign og optimalisering for å sikre signalkvalitet i passbåndområdet. Båndstoppfiltre har vanligvis spesifikke inngangs- og utgangsimpedanser for å matche impedanskravene til signalkilden og lasten.
Båndstoppfiltre er mye brukt innen ulike felt, som kommunikasjonssystemer, lydutstyr, forsterkere, radiomottakere, etc.
